The Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) commenced operations on 1 January 2015, and is now responsible for processing, analysing and publishing Victorian crime statistics, independent of Victoria Police. CSA’s goal is to make crime statistics available to the Victorian community in a clear and accessible way. The datasets released each quarter include:
- Offences recorded
- Alleged offender incidents
- Victim reports
- Family incidents
The annual financial year statistical release includes the above data and statistics generated from two additional datasets:
- Unique offenders
- Unique victims
The data is presented in PDF and Excel format for maximum accessibility, reuse and discoverability. It can also be viewed using the interactive Crime by Location tool by LGA and postcode for the previous three years.
The CSA presented at the March 2016 State Forum and provided an introduction on the agency. Attendees were informed of their key objectives and activities to date, as well as data releases and the services they offer.
